Situated in the heart of Ranelagh, this late 19th century 2 storey house was in good condition with attractive period features. Our brief was to demolish the later poorly designed and constructed rear ground level family /kitchen area and reorganise the spaces to allow for a contemporary extension which would address the attractive south facing garden space. Elements of the main house were refurbished to provide
a new utility and bathroom accommodation.

The design of the extension which provided a new kitchen and dining family area incorporating a simple palette of materials, with natural hardwood sliding doors opened up the interior spaces to the garden. A streamlinined design rooflight was incorporated into the kitchen area throwing light onto the very attractive stripped back original brick wall of the gable of the house.
